A professional community
for the People who
Govern the Truth.

For decades, the leaders responsible for enterprise Master Data have worked without a discipline to belong to. MDMLA is built to give them one.

Purpose

Master Data is the foundation on which every enterprise decision, every system, and — increasingly — every AI model depends. It is the customer that two systems must agree exists, the product that finance and operations must define identically, the supplier of record on which a contract rests.

Yet the leaders who govern it have never had a professional home of their own. Their work is essential and largely invisible; their title varies from one organization to the next; their craft is learned on the job and rarely named.

MDMLA exists to change that — to establish Master Data Management as a recognized profession, and to unite the people who safeguard the integrity of enterprise Data: the guardians of enterprise truth.

Vision & Mission

VisionA recognized profession
A world in which Master Data Management is recognized as a true profession — with shared standards, a defined set of competencies, and credentials that carry weight — and in which MDM leaders are acknowledged as essential stewards of the trustworthy Data that powers a global, AI-enabled economy.
MissionUnite, define, advance
MDMLA unites MDM leaders from organizations around the world in an independent, non-profit, vendor-neutral community. We define and advance professional standards and competency frameworks for the discipline, champion the recognition of MDM as a profession, and connect practitioners through shared expertise and peer exchange — building, together, the Data foundations for an AI-enabled future.

Principles

Our commitments

Three commitments are written into the foundation of the association and cannot be traded away.

Independent

Governed by and for practitioners. Our standards answer to the discipline, not to any single employer, platform, or commercial interest.

Non-profit

Surplus is reinvested into standards, research, and the community. The association exists to advance the profession, not to extract from it.

Vendor-neutral

No platform is endorsed and none is excluded. We describe good practice in terms of competencies and outcomes, never in terms of a product.

MDM in the AI era

If AI inherits the quality of the Data beneath it, then the people who guard that Data are guarding the future of every decision it makes.
